The Gift is a brand-new and transformative theatrical production and original play celebrating its world debut in Halifax, Nova Scotia at St. Andrew’s Church Hall (6036 Coburg Road). The premiere is January 26.

Produced by Brookes Diamond Productions, the one-man play starring well-known performer Robert Lamar was co-written by Lamar and Ron Ulrich and directed by Ulrich (former Artistic Director of Neptune Theatre).

The Gift dares to challenge the age-old question – are we here by chance or destiny? The play is a first of its kind in that the audience plays a major role in the unfolding of its final outcome.

Interactive and mysterious, The Gift will leave audiences to wonder what is real and what is fiction and what part chance or destiny play in our existence. It’s a story of family disruption, dysfunction, and eventual reconciliation in which a solo actor, played by Lamar, takes the audience on a journey to understand the forces that have torn the family apart with audience members bringing the show to its ultimate conclusion each night.

The play evolved from an idea that came to Lamar during COVID and has been in development ever since. The script has been honed over time with input from the team and the hall has been customized by experienced set designers and prop builders formerly of Cirque du Soleil.

“This is a show that will truly inspire audiences unlike anything we have ever presented,” says producer Brookes Diamond. “Halifax, prepare yourself. You’ve never experienced anything to compare to The Gift.”

The Gift is suitable for ages 12 and over and includes audience participation for those interested.
